Compound words are made when two (or more) words are put together to create a new word with a different meaning.
A compound word can be hyphenated such as LONG-TERM
Or open (with spaces) such as CAR WASH
Or closed (no spaces) such as CLOWNFISH
Here is an example:
VIDEO _ _ _ _ SHOW
The answer is GAME because VIDEO GAME and GAME SHOW both make sense.
